Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, 69, is sharing his story in his own words with his debut memoir, “Source Code,” set to be published on Tuesday, Feb. 4. It’s the first part of a planned trilogy and focuses on his childhood and young adulthood in Seattle.
Many major events in his life like his success at Microsoft, his marriage to Melinda French Gates, the launch of their charity, personal controversies, and his divorce aren’t covered here; those will be for later installments.
Surprising aspects of his past are revealed. Gates once feared getting kicked out of Harvard. A friend’s sudden death in a hiking accident rocked his childhood. He admits he could be a “challenging” kid, and his parents put him in therapy when he was 12, which lasted around two and a half years. He realized through the sessions that his parents loved him and were his allies.
