Kansas Senator Roger Marshall addressed the tragic plane crash, offering condolences to the victims and their families. He emphasized the profound grief, comparing it to past tragedies the state has endured, and also recognized the value of the lives of the pilots, flight attendants, and military personnel involved.
As the search-and-rescue efforts continued, CBS News reported that the plane broke into multiple pieces and is submerged in five to eight feet of water. A dive team managed to recover one of the aircraft’s two black boxes, though it’s not yet confirmed whether it’s the cockpit voice recorder or the flight data recorder. Divers have also retrieved luggage and other debris from the aircraft’s cabin, while the helicopter, found upside down in the water, appears largely intact.
