Patrick Schwarzenegger shed tears of joy and relief when he told his loved ones that he landed a role in The White Lotus season 3.
The 31-year-old actor shared a video of that emotional moment on Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 16. In the video, which was filmed a few weeks after his 2023 engagement to fiancée Abby Champion, he revealed the casting news to his mom, Maria Shriver, and his sister Katherine Schwarzenegger.
He wrote on Instagram that at first, he was supposed to keep it a secret, but his family noticed him acting strange. Maria even thought he and Abby were pregnant. Then when he spilled the beans, he started crying, and it set off a domino effect with his mom and sister crying too.
Patrick previously told PEOPLE that finding out he got a main cast role on the hit HBO anthology series was “the greatest day in history for me”, though he had to keep it under wraps. He had to tell his fiancée as they got engaged the week before and he’d be leaving for seven months to film in Thailand. Later, he told his whole family over lunch.
