Improvised Moments
Throughout the movie, Michael Keaton’s natural comic genius shines through with improvised moments. One such moment is when a blind man asks for spare change, and Keaton writes him a check.
Ron Howard’s Cameos
Ron Howard made a few cameos in the movie. He and his wife Cheryl can be seen sharing a smooch in front of Chuck’s apartment building. He also played the annoying saxophonist in the subway scene, and his brother Clint Howard appears as the quirky character Jeffrey.
Familiar Faces in Early Roles
Night Shift is filled with future stars in small roles. Kevin Costner makes a brief appearance as a frat boy at the morgue party, and Shannen Doherty has her first feature film role as a “Blue Bell” (though Chuck mistakenly calls her “Bluebird”) in an elevator scene.
