NEW YEAR TERROR STRIKES: Driver Rams Truck into New Year’s Eve Revelers at High Speed, Fires Weapon, Leaving Ten Dead in New Orleans

Emergency response teams sprang into action, converging on the intersection of Bourbon Street and Iberville in the city’s vibrant French Quarter neighborhood around 3:15 am. To date, the death toll has been confirmed at 10, with a further 30 people sustaining serious injuries.

Another witness, Whit Davis, described the panic that ensued, saying people began sprinting and taking cover under tables. He told the BBC, “We’d been enjoying the evening on and around Bourbon Street since it started. But when we were in the bar, the music was so deafening that we didn’t hear the shooting or crashes.” Mr. Davis added that they were held inside the bar by the police and later escorted out, only to be confronted with the grisly sight of “dead and injured bodies strewn all over the street.”
