Mindi Kaling, Meghan’s friend, shared her experience on the show’s production. She said Meghan invited her during her maternity leave and that Meghan was an excellent cook. Abigail Spencer also said people will get an “authentic look” at the Duchess and that she learned a lot from Meghan on the show.
Meghan didn’t undertake any interviews before the show’s release. However, her show has faced some criticism. Royal broadcaster Helena Chard said that although Meghan’s team has put a lot of positive marketing and branding spin into the series, it may take a long time for her to succeed in the lifestyle space as her character doesn’t fit the “sickly-sweet picture” and the show may feel “inauthentic”.
In addition to the show, Meghan launched her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard last year.
Meghan has made a comeback on Instagram prior to the show’s arrival. She has four posts on her page with over two million followers. In a recent video she posted on February 4, she shared an act of kindness. During the Los Angeles wildfires, she and Harry met a mother and her 15-year-old daughter whose home burned down. The daughter had lost a Billie Eilish concert t-shirt in the fire. Meghan reached out to the musician, who sent over many things. In the video, Meghan showed the packages she received at home.
