Naturally, Bass has come under fire from many on the right due to her absence during a significant crisis. Admittedly, wildfires are less predictable than some other natural disasters, which does influence whether she can always be on-site. Nevertheless, her absence at the start of the crisis could potentially impact her chances of reelection.
Despite her absence initially, Bass has been sharing information about the fires with L.A. residents and has issued a statement outlining the resources accessible to those affected.
She declared in a statement, “To the thousands of families affected by this dreadful fire – the City of Los Angeles is offering resources and shelter as this emergency persists. To the hundreds of courageous firefighters and first responders who have been combating this blaze all day – we are grateful.”
