King Charles and Princess Anne have shared a close bond throughout their lives. With just a 21-month age difference, they grew up at Buckingham Palace under the care of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
When Charles ascended to the throne in 2022, Anne was ready to support him wholeheartedly. Despite suffering an accident last year that led to a concussion and a five-night hospital stay, the 74-year-old Princess Royal resumed her royal duties promptly after recovery. They have carried out numerous royal engagements together over the years, and Anne affectionately calls Charles an “old bean.”
Anne is renowned as one of the hardest-working members of the Royal Family, even dubbed a “workhorse” by royal correspondents. In a January interview with the Press Association, she stated that retiring from her royal duties isn’t an option for her, emphasizing that there’s no retirement program in her line of work.
