As a society, we seem to be making concerted efforts to address these inequalities with each passing year, yet there remains much work to be done. At the very least, there is now a greater awareness among people. If one needed evidence of this, one need only look at a seemingly innocuous picture that recently went viral and sparked a flurry of comments.
Let’s be honest. How many of us, as children, believed that all doctors were men and all nurses were women? I, for one, am not ashamed to admit that whenever I visualized a doctor in my childhood, it was always a male. And when I thought of a nurse, I expected to be greeted by a female.
