I Prepared a Festive Dinner for 20 Guests for My Husband’s Birthday, Only to Be Ditched as He Went to Celebrate at a Bar

I thought I was being a good wife by throwing a festive dinner for my husband Todd’s 35th birthday. But just as the guests were about to arrive, he told me he was ditching the party to watch the game at a bar.

We’ve been married for six years. Todd can be charming at times, and we’ve had wonderful moments together, but his sense of entitlement drives me crazy.

Take last Thanksgiving. Todd suggested hosting a dinner for both our families. I asked how we’d divide the responsibilities, and he just waved me off, saying I was better at that stuff and he’d handle drinks. For two weeks, I planned and prepped while he played fantasy football and occasionally asked if I needed him to pick up anything. On the day, I cooked a whole spread, and he just carried the cooler of beer to the living room. After dinner, he took credit for everything, ignoring my pointed remarks.
