However, her career path wasn’t always smooth. In 2014, she took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge on Fox 5 to raise awareness for ALS. But back in 2007, she was the target of ridicule on the nationally syndicated Don and Mike Show, which had a weekly segment called the Wheel of Holly, where old clips of her reporting were played randomly for laughs.
In 2016, Morris opened up about the difficult details of her 2005 divorce from former station weatherman Tom Sater. She revealed that her marriage fell apart due to Sater’s affair with a co-worker and his struggles with addiction. She was deeply affected by the discovery that many colleagues had known about the affair before her. To make matters worse, she unknowingly co-anchored morning newscasts with the woman her husband had been involved with. Although she didn’t name those involved, it was known that Sater’s affair was with former Fox 5 anchor Gurvir Dhindsa, whom he later married. The situation remained complicated as Morris and Dhindsa continued working together for several years, creating an awkward work environment where Morris claimed Dhindsa had an unusual fixation on her.
Morris eventually found happiness when she reconnected with her former college crush, lawyer Thomas Espy. They married on July 21, 2007, and settled in Rockville, Maryland, where they welcomed their son, Hayden Espy. Looking back on her divorce, Morris considered it a blessing in disguise.
