Shivon Zilis: A Secretive Chapter
In recent years, Musk’s connection with Shivon Zilis, an executive at Neuralink, one of his companies focused on brain-machine interfaces, came to light. Their relationship was kept under wraps until 2022 when it was revealed that they had become parents to twins through in vitro fertilization (IVF). This added a new branch to Musk’s already extensive family tree. The news sparked discussions about workplace ethics, given that Zilis reported directly to Musk. In early 2024, they welcomed a third child with the help of surrogacy. Zilis has stated that she and Musk never dated; instead, Musk donated his sperm to ensure their children were genetically his, as he apparently wanted “smart people to have kids.”
Grimes: An Unconventional Union
Perhaps one of the most talked-about relationships in Musk’s life was with Canadian musician Grimes (born Claire Boucher). In 2018, they made headlines when they appeared together, their contrasting personalities – the tech mogul and the avant-garde artist – making for an unexpected pairing. In 2020, they welcomed a son with a highly unconventional name: X Æ A-12 (which was later adjusted to X AE A-Xii for legal reasons). A year later, they had a daughter, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, through surrogacy. Although they announced a “semi-separation” in late 2021, they reportedly remain close and committed to co-parenting. However, in September 2023, they had a third child, a son, and just a month later, in October 2023, Grimes filed a lawsuit against Musk regarding parental rights and custody of their eldest son.
