This innocent creature had been tied up, forced into a backpack, and then callously set on fire. The extent of her injuries was truly horrifying, and the suffering she went through was unimaginable. However, despite this cruel treatment, she astonishingly maintained a trust in humans and showed incredible resilience even after experiencing such a nightmare.
The Battle for Survival
Fortunately, this poor dog, who was later named Phoenix, found a glimmer of hope. She was rescued by the San Antonio-based organization, 4 Little Paws Rescue. Without delay, they rushed her for emergency medical treatment.
The medical team at the rescue worked ceaselessly to stabilize Phoenix. Her injuries were extremely severe. Most of her fur had been burned away, her ears were so damaged that they had to be amputated, and as her burnt skin started to peel off, her body was highly vulnerable to infection and dehydration.
