Aubrey Plaza and Jeff Baena: A 13-Year Journey Ended by His Tragic and Untimely Death

It all began in 2011 when Aubrey and Jeff’s paths crossed during a game of Balderdash, as she disclosed in a 2022 GQ article. For the initial years, they kept their relationship discreet, with Aubrey once sharing that “she could empathize with being in a relationship with its highs and lows, going through tough times and comparing themselves to seemingly perfect couples.”

Around three years into their relationship, in 2014, they embarked on a significant professional collaboration. Jeff made his directorial debut with the film Life After Beth, casting Aubrey as Beth Slocum. The comedy-horror flick, which also featured Anna Kendrick and John C. Reilly, was a milestone for Jeff, igniting his passion for further creative pursuits.

Seeing the success of blending work and personal life, they joined forces again in 2017 for The Little Hours. Aubrey took on the role of Sister Fernanda, alongside Alison Brie and Dave Franco, while Jeff penned and directed the film.
