Elza Jesus Almeida, a 64-year-old resident of São Paulo, has a very curious and, at the same time, very frustrating story. She believes she got all six numbers right in the Mega da Virada lottery, but she had a huge problem with the lottery shop where she placed her bet. Elza was full of hope of winning more than R$70 million, but an error in the registration of her ticket may have robbed her of her luck.
According to her, she made a total of eight bets, and one of them, the one that would give her the big prize, was not registered. And, to make matters worse, Elza only realized this after the draw, when she saw that the numbers drawn coincided with one of the games she had filled out. The story began on the afternoon of Tuesday, December 31. She went to the lottery shop in Jabaquara, in the south of São Paulo, as she did every year, to try her luck.
