Maryland Woman Finds Out She’s Been Accidentally Declared Dead When Trying to Renew Her Driver’s License

A Maryland woman, Nicole Paulino, was shocked to learn she’d been wrongly declared dead when attempting to renew her driver’s license in November.

Paulino, a mother of three from Gaithersburg, told NBC4 Washington that she was informed by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) that she couldn’t get a new license as it appeared she was deceased. “I got a little frightened, I’m not gonna lie, and surprised, because I am alive. I’m here,” she said.

A Social Security Administration (SSA) representative later called Paulino and explained that the mistake was due to a typo from a funeral home. They had registered Paulino’s Social Security number instead of the deceased person’s, the publication reported.
