With its dark humor and ambitious plotline, “Bugonia” is being produced by a star-studded team, including Lanthimos, Ari Aster, and Stone herself under her production company Fruit Tree. Producers Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe expressed their enthusiasm about collaborating with Focus Features and reuniting with Lanthimos, Stone, and Plemons. They also looked forward to working once again with the talented crew they had joined forces with on previous projects.
Focus Features will distribute “Bugonia” in the United States, while Universal Pictures will take care of international distribution, excluding Korea.
Stone’s role in “Bugonia” underlines her ongoing partnership with Lanthimos on boundary-pushing projects. During the filming of another Lanthimos movie, “Kinds of Kindness,” she even entrusted co-star Joe Alwyn to trim her hair, a testament to her fearless dedication to her roles.
